World Cycle Trip

Saturday morning arrived in an enormous rush, thought we were ready and only had a few things left to do, wrong those few little things mount up, add to that a fatality on the train line from Birmingham to Wycombe which upset our plans to collect Naomi’s mum and a quick diversion to Princes Risborough and one of my best friends birthdays, Jude Newton joined me at 46 😉 and before you know it your rushing around like lunatics !!
Still we managed coffee and breakfast in the Kings Arms and were delighted to see Jim Kinch, Brian Oliver, Jude Newton, Tim Butt, my mum, Naomi’s mum join us and wish us well on our travels, thanks guys it meant a lot 😉
Finally arrived at Heathrow courtesy of Shane Burden and a works van, cheers mate, appreciate that. Got the bikes and luggage through and chilled for an hour before the flight, spent most of the time praying our bikes would be ok !!
The flight was smooth and uninteresting, nothing to say apart from that, arrived at Seattle and laughed when Naomi got stooped by US customs, nothing serious just an issue with an old visa, finally released we found our bikes and luggage, grabbed a shuttle to the Red Lion airport hotel to rebuild the bikes before eating and bed, 26.5 hours we were up before finally hitting the sack.
Our thanks to the hotel reception clerk for printing directions for out trip into Downtown Seattle to visit Naomi’s friends, and also for storing our bikes for us overnight.

Great to finally get on our bikes and see some of the country, 15.5 miles over bridges, water, train tracks, through industrial, suburban, up hills, down hills and finally in glorious sunshine we arrived at Greg and Patricia’s house, made to feel very welcome and shown the way to our rooms and the shower, refreshed we headed out with Greg on the bus to Downtown !!
Past the Space Needle,

Through Sculpture Parks, down by the waterfront,

Saw the new attraction in Seattle the Seattle Eye,

And finally up to Capital Hill for food, found a lovely restaurant called Oddfellows and dined on fresh fish and lamb, very nice indeed but blew a large part of the budget so need to economise for a while. Bus back up to Gregs house and sit down to tell you all about our trip so far, sound dull but I’ve had a smile on my face all day and tomorrow we head out proper for out trip down The Pacific Coast Highway !!
Talk to you all soon 😉

Sounds Fun John, I had a nice email today, 3 of the Japanese students I had are coming over in September as they are concerned about my health, they want to see me again, made me cry that did, just to see me, they are coming for one week. I said they could stay here not B&B
